This morning’s news has Politico reporting that the usual Presidential walk on the South lawn to Marine One will be changed. President Biden will no longer make the traditional walk solo but will be accompanied by staff or a family member. The word is that his gate has become unsteady and difficult that there is fear of a fall or stumble that will make for very poor optics.
Let’s put that in context to the mounting examples of Mr. Bidens’ decline.
Falling up the stairs to AirForce One, falling on a stage, numerous incoherent mumbling utterances, mistakes in reading prepared teleprompter remarks the latest being reading an instruction to “Pause” aloud or just looking lost when he leaves the podium.
No matter the number of Democrat defenders, explanations or just pure obfuscation it is apparent that the President is an 81 year old in decline. Common sense tells us that decline is not reversable and only progresses naturally.
Election day is a mere six months away. How can his physical and obvious communication difficulties stand up to the rigors of the campaign season. No matter how protective his surrogates and staff it will become more and more apparent that he will not be able to live out a second term if that miraculously happens. If this is what his 81 looks like imagine his 86.
Shades of Diane Feinstein. She had dementia and remained in her Senatorial role until the very end. In the later stages she was unable to voice votes without prompting from her staff. How would such a situation play out in terms of the nuclear football. “Mr. President do we have permission to launch?” Picture the bewilderment on his face as he attempts to process the question. Will Mr. Biden need to be prompted by some unelected minion?
The people surrounding the President are intoxicated by the power they enjoy at the feet of a docile old man who they can treat like the family’s ailing patriarch and will do whatever is necessary to maintain their positions.
My question remains. “When, Joe?” will you realize that a second term is clearly beyond your ability and definitely a disservice to the country?
