Twenty feet high and over a hundred feet wide the governments across the country are now in the graffiti business.
Citizens fought for years against the scourge of nocturnally painted tags on every surface available. Buses, train cars, tenement walls, overpasses, truck bodies, etc. Not many appreciated the disjointed chaos of mismatched colors and unintelligent words and letters. A small segment, probably the taggers themselves, call it art. Most just called it obnoxious and disrespectful.
Just when the taggers were not as prevalent and surfaces were staying unblemished longer here comes your local municipality emblazing streets and public places with the BLACK LIVES MATTER slogan. Official graffiti.
First, those are public places and not available for branding of any kind. If they were every major corporation would be paying for the opportunity to paint their logo, advertising, and promotions right down the middle of Main St. Second, the government is not in the business of choosing sides. There are many citizens who support the examination of inequality but do not subscribe to the tenets of the Black Lives Matter organization and their platform of opposing law enforcement, demands of wholesale dismantling and destroying of historical monuments and statues. Third, no other displays, either in opposition or counter agendas are permitted. Oh, and by the way, graffiti is illegal.
In New York City the feckless Mayor has announced that the BLM tag will be painted on Fifth Avenue directly in front of Trump Towers. How is that for a provocation?
The pundits clamor about President Trump being divisive, racist and supportive of white supremacy. Everything in the universe that is even just a bit off is his fault. The Corona virus, the economic turmoil, the rise in crime, shootings and death in New York City and Chicago, calling out looters, rioters and those destroying public property are all his offenses. Therefore he seen as a bully and wanting of civility. What they are really opposed to is that he is not pandering to the mob.
Not everyone agrees with his style or bombast, but he does not back down from opposing things that are affecting the country adversely. No one cares to focus on the achievements and improvements this President has championed for the communities of color. But, his current stance in support of the rule of law and order is rankling many. Mainstream media accuses him of being heavy handed and obtuse to the pulse of the country. The lesson in the current situation is that standing up to the mob mentality, the political pressure and the need to appease and capitulate to irrational demands are not in his play book. His view is the long effect on our way of life and preserving our heritage and traditions while the mob seeks the downfall of America.
While BLM operatives want to rid the streets of police, only God can understand that, erase history, be arbiters of any and all things they find offensive our President stands in the way of an overall take over. As cities and states cave and embarrassingly pander and foolishly relinquish leadership the line between freedom and chaos is thinning dramatically. As these spineless leaders and agenda warriors cave in creative and innovative grand ways is should not be a surprise to anyone that you will now drive down streets painted with something more divisive that yellow lines.
