“Democratic” is a smoke screen.
Senator Bernie Sanders our very own radical is hiding behind the moniker of “democratic socialist”. He openly claims the title and why wouldn’t he. After all he is merely putting our democracy right and is only looking out for the people.
Hogwash. Bernie has been lurking in the government for just this moment. He almost pulled it off in 2016 but ran up against one of the most dishonest political machines run by the Clintons who virtually stole the nomination from him. The Democratic Party was too stupid to hide it and turmoil ensued. The chair of the party resigned very publicly but it was too late. Hillary was off to the Presidential race, hoping to be crowned. That didn’t work either.
It did leave Mr. Sanders wiser. He has endured the three years of Trump derangement syndrome just waiting to run against the most populist President we have ever seen in the White House. Bernie, being the radical he is, has never abandoned his socialist roots and waited for the next cycle. All the while he kept the cadre of mini-socialist youth energized and ready.
His legitimacy, as thinly veiled as it is, is the appendage of the “democratic” qualifier.
As of this writing he is gaining momentum and delegates as a top contender for the party nomination. The real Democrats are going bonkers because they know that the socialist message is not one Americans will embrace. The control of the House of Representatives will evaporate with Bernie as the nominee. Local districts will flee the party or just a bad stay home on election day. The real fear is not only that Bernie will lose against Trump, but what if by some miracle he wins. A Bernie administration would sink the country, economically and philosophically. The Democratic elite are sharpening their knives and will pull out all the stops to bring a Bernie candidacy down.
Ultimately Bernie will be his own demise. With each debate he gets bolder and has even highlighted what he considers the benefits of socialism. He even praised Fidel Castro for embarking on a literacy campaign when he came to power. Interestingly Mr. Sanders called the “Literacy Brigade” and wasn’t that a good thing. Do you see the issue right there? Isn’t a brigade a military term? What he neglected to say was that Castro was also a vicious dictator who imprisoned and killed opposers.
The socialism that he espouses, no matter how much lipstick he applies, is still a pig. Socialism, “democratic” or otherwise, does not work for one simple fact. When you run out of ways to tax the people the whole system collapses under its own weight. But even before that the government has to take more and more control to be able to tax and regulate the lives of the citizens.
I wish the Democratic Party well in their efforts to take Bernie Sanders out of the presidential race.
