The DC Circus.

Ringling Brothers announced that they would be ceasing operations which left the other longest running circus with no competition. The US Congress now holds the position of world's best side show.

With or without a tent the acts of Congress continue to draw an audience. They don't even give out cotton candy.

Watching the circus high wire act was always entertaining because of the patrons' anxiety being heightened by the danger of a fall. Much like NASCAR spectators are on the edge of their seats waiting for the inevitable crash. Well both have happened, the GOP took the fall, and is in the process of crashing and burning.

Snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory seems to have become a major goal for the Grand Old Party. The only analog that makes sense to me is that they are keystone cops. No, better yet, the are like the tiny clowns that pour out to the tiny little car in great number.

No wall, No Repeal, No Replace, No Tax reform. Hell, not even a hint of any appropriate prosecutions of the Obama and Clinton operatives that were so obviously dirty and corrupt. Just remember some of the issues that could have been acted on - the $150 Billion that was given to Iran as ransome - giving Hillary a pass on the whole server and e-mail exposure of our most confidential and even Top Secret information - Loretta Lynch having a cozy private meeting with the spouse of the target of an ongoing investigation - Susan Rice unmasking Americans on NSA telephone intercepts even though her job had nothing to do with the masked citizens. The current GOP Congress is spinless and at the very least ineffective on any front.

For eight years the whole contingent of the GOP had the ability to gather together in preparation of returning to power and correcting the course of the ship of State. For eight years, they pushed and pushed back against the Obama cabal but they were certain that their voices were never going to be recognized and that whatever threats they made were for appearances only. Tidbits for the folks back home. "Aren't I doing a good job of trying for you but it is the Democrats, always the Democrats who stand in my way."

Now that the GOP holds the majority, albeit a narrow one, they are screaming like little children that they can't be supportive because they are not getting absolutely everything that they, their donors and special interests want. The term RHINO (Republican In Name Only) is too kind. They stand in front of the press microphones and pontificate in their thousand dollar suits and four hundred dollar haircuts and say nothing.

It remains a swamp - on both sides of the aisle. If you have ever attended the circus you know how badly the tent smells. Elephants are stinky, as are tigers and bears. So I would like to suggest folding the tent or at least opening some of the flaps to air it out. Let's peel back the curtains of what the stubborn GOPers are really doing. Are they feathering their own nest from donors who are demanding a certain outcome? It can't be altruistic concerns since that has been absent from Congress for so long that no one there remembers what it means to have principals that are virtuous and true.

For eight years the world laughed as Obama tried to apologize and hug his was to a Kumbia global society. They laughed at his lack of skills in negotiating what was best for the United States. They laughed and laughed as he rolled over time and again even with the most serious matters. They laughed as he fanned the fires of racial divides that had been waning significantly before he ever stepped in the Oval Office. And the terrorists laughed the loudest when he refused to name them as the enemy of civilization and allowed them to establish their threatened caliphate.

The laughing now is for the monumental bungling of the party in power. The world hoped for the change that Donald Trump the candidate espoused all during the campaign. What they have gotten is a limp GOP that refuses to follow the President.

I would say one thing to all of them, "You're Fired"
