Sanctuary

What exactly does the current use of the word sanctuary mean……

To the left……… Illegal immigrants are untouchable. You cannot inquire as to their status under any circumstances. If in fact their document status is revealed no action can be taken by any level of law enforcement. In particular, I.C.E cannot be informed.

To the right……. All the above is an obstruction of existing laws which translates into the harboring of criminals.

Why is the understanding of the reality different?

The objection to the “sanctuary” city, state, school, etc. is that it thumbs its nose at legitimate authority with no regard for upholding a society under the same set of laws. It is a choosing. One from column A one from column B. Which law do I obey today?

Truth be told the sanctuary status claimed by predominately Democratic enclaves is a purpose without a cause. No one, and I mean no one, on the right sees that incarcerating a person merely because they are undocumented is a reality. Many illegal immigrants have been here for years, work hard, have families. Given that they are here by bypassing the process of entering the US legally they lack the green cards, work or visitor visas and thereby are undocumented, dare I say illegal. These Democratic enclaves have taken their own rhetoric too far. They now embrace the criminal element within the illegal alien population.

If an illegal alien is arrested and convicted they should be deported. Plain and simple. They have compounded their already illegal status and elevated themselves to criminals. Why would they warrant protection? Why would we want to allow them to continue in the US where they have the potential of harming Americans or even other undocumented persons. Opposing this logic make no sense.

The left be cries any immigration law enforcement that will “pull families apart”. Even if that were true, US born criminals are taken from their families with good reason when they commit crimes and are incarcerated. Stridently the proponents try to defend the “sanctuary” position as a protection of children who came here through no fault of their own and because of their lack of papers can be subject to deportation. Although that is a possibility if the law was enforced to the letter it is not anything that anyone has proposed.

Sanctuary cities stand in the way of removing the criminal element from the illegal population. How many stories are there of illegal alien criminals, many with multiple convictions and/or deportations, who commit all manner of crimes including murder because they were not kept out of our country.

Kate Steinle is such a victim. Gunned down on a California pier by a convicted felon who was an illegal alien. California Law Enforcement was responsible for this murder because the convict was in their custody and they refused to alert ICE or turn him over.

There can be no real justification for sanctuary cities, towns, campuses, schools to exist. The laws in this country are for all of us. If you don’t agree, show up at the ballot box next election and put people in office who agree that the law of the land does not need to be upheld.
