Stop Trump Campaign Ill Conceived

I just don’t get it. Why in the world would the people who are so vehemently opposed to Donald Trump not understand that the alternative is a thousand times worse?

Are they naïve enough to think that they will hold sway at the Republican convention and change the candidate in the general election. Folks that will never happen.

Can they really want to hand the Oval Office to Hillary and her band of thieves? That will happen if they continue to openly bash and push back so strongly against Trump.

Granted he rubs the establishment the wrong way. He is bellicose, raw and sometimes over the top in his rhetoric. He is full of himself and cannot abide criticism. He lashes out to attack his attackers at every turn. Yet he has won the position fair and square by eliminating the 16 competitors in the primaries. He garnered more primary votes then every before. He is the candidate.

If the stop Trump Republicans would only be quiet for a little bit and spend their energy on helping to figure out how to win the White House with the candidate we have victory in there for the taking. They could surround Trump and advise him how to be in public so he can be effective in private. No one more than Donald Trump understands that the world is a stage. With the right support around him, meaning the establishment power players, he would create a presidential brand within his super sized self that would be unbeatable in November. Without the help and guidance of those very same people his effort will be less. Without the knowledge base inherent in important people the likes of Romney, the Bushes, the folks at National Review, George Will and others Mr. Trump will not have the depth of field necessary to win.

I am trying to decide if the Republican hierarchy really gets that stopping Trump hands the election to Hillary on a silver platter. Can they be that naïve to think otherwise? Or is there a completely different reason for such opposition? The political classes centered on Washington DC have all become powerful and rich at the same time. Do they think that a President Trump would put an end to their gravy train? Would a President Trump threaten their way of doing business. Are they afraid that decisions in the government would be focused on what was good for the country and not their pals or benefactors?

Do they fear that the era of special interests would be in jeopardy?

Hillary has 40 years of baggage which will not play well come the general election campaign. There is just too much fodder and she will not be able to withstand the attacks. She will be on the defensive at every turn. The stop Trump Republicans will be handing her a life line. Every one of their utterances will be turned into sound bites and will be repeated ad nauseum in her commercials.

I am not saying that we need a 100% unified party to win. What I am saying is that airing the dirty laundry in public is never constructive. The folks who are so bent on stopping Donald Trump should hold onto one thought, which in my mind is the most important of all, SCOTUS will have two or more vacancies during the next administration. That alone should shut their mouths. Giving Hillary the opportunity to fill the Supreme Court and lower federal courts with liberal activist jurists will change the course of the country for the foreseeable future and has the potential to make the damage irreparable.

I am cautiously optimistic that the power players will wake up, circle the wagons and if not assist then not be so vocal in opposition during the general campaign. Presidential elections are an all hands on deck process. Without the overwhelming support of the party winning will be like trying to race a car with three wheels and we all know how that would turn out.
