Here is the dilemma. Is Donald Trump a snake oil salesman or a true champion of America?
I have been all in for him, then - well maybe not, then - Oh my I am not sure, then - Cruz seems strong. Rubio reminds me of the last junior senator that was elected, Carla was interesting while she lasted, Ben Carson never had a chance. But the Donald showmen, huckster, visionary, un-politician, outsider or just plain snake oil salesman?
He didn’t put his brand on major projects all over the globe by being Casper milk toast.
He needed to be bold, aggressive, maybe bend the truth from time to time and dare I say ruthless to achieve so much. But…..
Here are my sticking points……..
- Not all of Trumps projects have been successes
- Bankruptcies impact small businesses and they do not get paid
- Not enough is known about his businesses
- There is a fraud case in court involving the failed Trump University
- His persona does not work for me in the Oval Office
- Will he pay heed to advisers or just bully them.
- Can he create jobs without doing something like the WPA
- He is an opportunists to the max degree – is that a quality I want in POTUS?
- His personal attacks on dissenters is worst than Obama’s arrogance.
- Many of his views are haphazard and ill defined.
Remember Ross Perot? Initially there was a huge ground swell of support that ultimately led to failure. John Edwards turned out to be a criminal. Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, Herman Cain were bright light contenders in years gone by and all faded in the stretch. I am just saying that at this point we don't know everything we need to and surely the fat lady hasn't sung yet.
I am not sure that Mr. Trump will make it to the nomination. Whether he does or doesn’t at this point is unclear. What is clear is that as time goes by other candidates are gaining strength, on their own or with the help of more traditional forces who are taking aim at the Donald.
I do think that as the days and weeks of the Spring go by there will be deeper scrutiny, more demands for specifics and more worry about beating Hilary in November.
I sure hope we can get to bottom of the question. Snake oil salesman or leader?
